Beginners Beekeeping Course
We run a beginners course locally every year in the Spring, just before the busy part of the beekeeping year begins. Our next course...
Our next course will be starting on Wednesday 24th March 2027 from 7pm to 9.30pm and running for six consecutive Wednesday evenings at an indoor venue in Tavistock. The course has no written work and there is no qualification at the end of it, but you will hopefully feel prepared and ready to begin keeping bees if you wish.
Additionally, there will be an apiary visit in April or May (date TBA - dependent on weather) where you will have the opportunity to handle bees.
If you decide to continue as a beekeeper, we aim to allocate you a mentor to help you through the early stages of your beekeeping. There will also be an additional follow up training session during the summer if you want it, as well as opportunities to attend our club talks and for socials with fellow members of the club.
To register for the course, please fill in the online form via the link below (one form per person) and make a payment to Tavistock Beekeepers - prices and payment details are on the form. The course fee includes membership of Devon Beekeepers Association (Tavistock Branch) and the British Beekeepers Association until the end of 2027. If you have difficulty affording the course fee, please let us know and we will be able to offer a confidential concession.
